Hello there Jozz here,
I'd like to tell you about the last recording weeks. And to be honest it looked like we where haunted by the ghost of Bad luck or lets say Murphys LAW...Lol.
Day 1
We arrived at the studio a little late but just a few min so no problem we brought our stuff up the stairs of this super awesome old cinema, as the studio is an old cinema build in 1850.
I used all 3 amps together to get the desired sound,the Vox, Jetcity, Kustom, that Mr. Pepe directly when seeing it wanted to buy or trade....dont think so Pepe lol....
Around noon the drums where set and we could start playing the first song, that is well Like 10 min long ...
The bassdrum sounded floppy and started to dispear in the mix ..so yup we took another large motherfucker.
and that one Did the job....the song is SLOW and at the start it was TOOOO slow ...After some Cursing, drinking, smoking fighting, we adjusted the click track a bit and the first part was recorded...Dubbed more wall of guitar, and it was done...meanwhile Bobysans bass guitar started to fall apart but that day it just stopt for a few min and then went on.....we headed to our apartment .. drank some Bevarages..Vesso cooked some awesome pasta...and slow and silent we went to bed.....after some had there Wifi sessions...
Day 2
We rolled out of bed...complaining about how hot it was at night at this Ghost house...while all the windows where open and you could hear the bar down the apartment was pretty crowded every night....but well we can handel noise. Actually we are pretty proffesional in making noise ....lol
We took a cofee at the bar acrosss the studio and waited for pepe (studio Owner) to arrive...
we rushed in and started to work on the second part of this 10 min song.....this time it went pretty fast...and BAM the basics was tracked.....
Then when we wanted to record the 3 song Bobs bass guitar died..WTF Bobysan screamed...
after some cursing we decided to do some vocals instead.....
and that was not as easy as ....normally if i know im gonne sing ...i stop smoking till it's done lol....
So pretty rough voice but it did the job.......
Meantime Miran (sound egineer) was fixing bobs bass and yeah he got it back working again.
you know having so many bassguitars around Right handed, Rickenbackers, Gibsons, Fenders, ect
Didnt make it feel better for the left handed...in our band....but it worked again and we went on....
We finished having 3 songs done...with overdubs and vocals ..so slowly we got back to pace....,.went to the apartment again .........and well it was .......another sillent night lets say it like that...vesso cooked a delicious omelet but .....there wasnt many spoke words that night....and again wiffi session was needed lol.
Day 3
Well arriving at the studio again, with alittle bit more spirit..then they days before....
we started to record our 4th song....And u can see what i mean if i say Bad luck.......after two notes the BASS DIED .........and indeed Nothing could make it work again...............
Bobysan Exploded and it almost seemed like ..i would have to finish the bass on the album....
he rushed to a near guitar shop with the hope they could fix it...............and at 4 o clock he would hear what to do...at that moment the studio became a Madhouse....i tried to finish some details of the songs we recorded and then when it was done we took a lunch break... and yea Nobody spoke.......
That day we decided that the album would be called RIDE TO RUIN.... doubting if it would ever be finished hahahaha.....one of our fans came by to support us in the studio....and well he didnt see much smiles but thanx eddie for ya moral support....
At 4 o clock the results were badly YES the bass was dead......then i thought about bypassing the active part and use the bass passive........it worked but well we had to tweak it way more...BUT fck we could go on recording...
With the tension high it seemed like the recording started to ...speed up and we got allot done that day.
ofcourse bad luck showed its face .....like guitars strap falling off while doing guitar parts, never has it ever happend and then on such crucial moment it did ....Murpys law yea its real.....Vesso struggled with the heat of the room and needed some fresh air yes it was like hell ,and it was vintage gear,3 half naked men, and the stench of sweat and glowing tubes .... that scentilated the room.........we came out red ...everytime we finished a song.But it was speeding up...and we got things done
At night the vibe at supper (again cooked by chef cook vesso ..) was cheerfull and positive ..seemed like most ghosts where busted away as you could say....
and for some reasons im Barbie girl from the band Aqua was .....becoming a theme sang loudly trought the house by miran and vesso...it was good to see some smiles again...and hear some laughter after those down days.
DAY 4
Waking Up to yet another Sunny hot day and background singing of BARBIE GIRL..and some other 80 Pop hits....it seemed the spirit was back and there was room for Fun Again as bobysan shows what a Real flying Mexican dutch Bsdm farmer looks like...lol (SEE PIC BELOW)
Again we Rushed off to get the fuel we need to wake up...COFFEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!..Pepe cheerfully waved he was already busting his ass off getting ready for the next line of songs.....so after having our java moment we rushed up and started recording ....again.
This time it felt like the curse was gone we actually finished almost everything that day.......wow what a relief Right,,,,,
when it was time to do some overdubs .i took my time lol.....tried bit tooooooooo fucking much..but well at least theres a choice now when we mix the album.
Bob fixed some minor bass flubbzz And vesso debuted his singing career in the song There will be blood.
Mr bobysan also dubbed a few singing parts but except from the occasionally laughter....from the results they both did it like they where pros.....the vibe overall was awesome....and yea at the end of the day almost everything was DONE.....
With More noise,beer and smiles and tomfoolery we entered the haunted apartment again....
Today la chef Vesso made beef burgers.......tasted great and we felt like we killed the curse of BAD LUCK..
everyone was singing the recorded songs from that day loud and ofcourse ....changed the lyrics for some Nasty ones...As bob is masters of romantic vomiting, he now masters the new skill of singing Spanish smut songs..we might have a career in making background music for porn ...i think pepe replied.
Miran left at the end of the day as he had loads of work to do.
He worked his ass off for us ...Hope you had a great weekend man and again thanks allot.
Day 5: Final day for the first recording sessions for RIDE TO RUIN.
We woke up in a good mood..wondering if we could finish some more songs this week but first we had to finish the other ones...
So we started to do the last vocal parts....around afternoon they where on...and we listened to all the tracks
and we added some awesome overdubs A OLD TUBE ORGAN it sounds amazing, and some more vocal overdubs.
and some small noises we fixed....we went to the haunted house to clean it whiles pepe had a Lunch break....
came back and started to clear our gear......slowly reaching the end of this studio session.........
after a few hours of Tetris ''as bobysan calls it'' we had our gear in the VAN and went off back HOME ........Not knowing
Bad luck would show its face again...but about that later..........
